Jesus Christ Superstar

Lyrics by Tim Rice • Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for over 40 years, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is a timeless work set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally-known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.  It was the first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage and first came to major theatres when it debuted on Broadway in October 1971 at the Mark Hellinger Theatre in New York.  Less than 12 months after the Broadway show opened, the rock spectacle went to London, exploding onto the West End at the Palace Theatre in August 1972 in a hugely successful production. By 1980, after 3,358 performances, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR had become the longest running musical in West End.

Arsenic & Old Lace

by Joseph Kesselring

Set in the early 1940s, Arsenic tells the story of newspaper drama critic Mortimer Brewster, who is anxious to marry his fiancée, the girl‐next‐door and a minister’s daughter, Elaine. But standing between them is the wackiest, weirdest family tree that ever grew! His two sweet aunts, Abby and Martha have developed murder as their favorite hobby. They regularly poison lonely old men with a mixture of arsenic and elderberry wine and then bury them in the cellar. Cousin Teddy sports pince‐nez and a handlebar moustache and regularly charges up San Juan Hill! And horrid brother Jonathan has just arrived from an asylum and a sinister side‐kick named Dr. Einstein. It’s “Home Sweet Homicide” as Mortimer tries to thwart the police conceal a corpse, curtail anymore killing, and convince Elaine that a wedding with a man who is drowning in such a murky gene pool would lead to nothing but woe. Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic comic melodrama.

One Man, Two Guvnors

by Richard Bean

Brighton, England. 1963. Change is in the air, and Francis Henshall. Fired from a skiffle band is in search of work.  He finds himself employed by small-time gangster Roscoe Crabbe, in town to collect a fee from his fiancée’s gangster father. But Roscoe is really Rachel, posing as her own dead brother, herself in love with Stanley Stubbers (her brother's killer) who, in turn, becomes our hero's other 'guvnor'. Fighting a mounting sense of confusion, Francis goes out of his way to serve both bosses. But with the distractions of a pneumatic bookkeeper and select members of the criminal fraternity (not to mention his own mammoth appetite) to contend with, how long can he keep them apart? The hit of the 2012 Broadway season.  "Splendidly silly…satanic and seraphic, dirty-minded and utterly innocent." —NY Times.

Directed by Lee Rush              Stage Manager - Judy George
